aged enthusiast, just the passion is enough to learn salsa. Salsa has attracted

to learn, and the infectious beats that are dancer-friendly has catapulted
salsa into one of the most revered dance forms.
Salsa dancing can be done in two forms, as you can opt for hand-in-hand
position or closed dance position, where the palms of the male partner face the
upward direction, as the female partner takes the hands of the male partner
with her palms facing downwards. This paves way for free movements. As when the
dancing gets initiated the male's left hand takes the right hand of the female,
as his right gets placed on or even around that of the shoulder blade belonging
to the female partner. The left hand of the lady is placed on the right
shoulder pertaining to the male partner, as her arm gets placed over the male's
arm.
In your efforts to learn how to dance salsa step by step, getting to
grips with the basic salsa steps proves to be an important link in your quest
to get armed with the basics. In salsa dancing, all the counts don't call for a
dancing step, as in case of the two measures pertaining to the four beats, the
4th and the 8th step only happens to be a pause. Emphasis is laid on the first
3 beats out of the total 4, which is the essence of the salsa music.
Male Partner's Basic
The male starts the dancing with his left foot kept forward, as his
right foot gets taken off the ground. Smaller steps will have to be performed
for neater and faster movements. For the second beat, the weight has to be
shifted from that of the left to the right foot, the feet being kept where they
have been in the earlier position. The right foot now takes all the weight. In
the third step, the step involves the movement of left foot taken in the
backward direction to be placed next to that of the right foot. Now the weight
is spread across both the feet. When it is the turn of the fourth beat, the
weight can gradually be moved to that of the left foot during this beat.
The fifth step is similar to that of the first step but gets done in the
backward direction. The sixth step involves shifting the weight to the left
foot, and in the seventh step, the right foot is moved to meet the left foot,
as the balance gets transferred to both the feet. The eighth beat is similar to
that of the fourth, as the weight gets taken off the left foot to get ready for
the next step.
Female Partner's Steps
The female partner on her part should have to perform a backward
movement with the right foot for the first step. In the second step, the weight
gets transferred to the left foot. For the third step, the female has to
perform the right foot movement as in a way to meet the left foot. The fourth
step is but a pause which gets used for shifting the weight.
In the fifth step, the left foot is used for the forward movement. The
sixth step involves the transfer of weight to the right foot. In the seventh
step, the left foot is moved to bring it near the right foot. The eighth step
happens to be a pause as you can get ready to perform the next step.
